Why Weldotherm WTD

Heat treatment for optimized material properties, safe processes and maximum component service life.

Preheating
The targeted heating ensures optimal preparation and reliable support of the welding process
Preheating
To accompany the welding process, we heat the material to the required temperature. For special steel alloys and specific application scenarios involving the components to be welded, accompanying, process-safe preheating is absolutely essential.
Stress relieving annealing (PWHT
Stress relieving annealing (PWHT) is used to reduce internal stresses in the workpiece, especially after welding.
Stress relieving annealing
To reduce the thermal stresses introduced by the welding process, we stress-relieve the affected components. Stress-relieving restores the structural properties required for the component's use and reduces the increased hardness values caused by the welding process.
Hydrogen soaking
Soaking enables the reduction or elimination of hydrogen embrittlement in the workpiece.
Hydrogen soaking
To eliminate hydrogen embrittlement in the component, we heat the components to 200°C–300°C in a controlled manner and maintain this temperature for several hours. This is used to remove harmful hydrogen introduced during welding or galvanizing through heat treatment.
Normalizing
Normalizing is used to produce a uniform, fine-grained, rounded microstructure.
Normalizing
For steel castings, forgings, or welded structures, normalizing or normalizing annealing may be necessary to eliminate structural irregularities. The slow but controlled heating and cooling processes are monitored and carried out smoothly using our high-quality equipment.
Trace heating
Trace heating involves heating pipes with electrical heating cables to improve the flow properties of the medium.
Trace heating
In the process industry, various media transported through pipelines for further processing must be continuously and safely maintained at a certain temperature. With our process-safe equipment, we ensure that cooling and the associated potential damage do not occur.
Dehydration
Drying is used to remove residual moisture in working rooms and systems lined with fireproof material.
Dehydration
Whether combustion chambers, concrete-lined pipe joints, or other refractory linings – controlled drying is crucial for durability. We typically dry all components with our high-velocity gas burners.
Shrinking
Shrinking is the force-fitting connection and joining of two workpieces according to the principle of thermal expansion.
Shrinking
Components that are assembled with a planned interference fit during assembly are shrunk. Through the controlled application of heat, the outer component expands and can thus be bonded to the inner component. This ensures that the applied component sits tightly against the inner component.

Why heat treatment is used

Basic principle of heat treatment

Heat treatment enables the targeted adjustment of material properties through precisely controlled temperature cycles. This allows internal stresses to be reduced, microstructures to be influenced, and mechanical strength to be significantly improved. Since each material and weldment has different requirements, selecting the correct parameters requires many years of experience and in-depth expertise, as this is the only way to ensure reproducible results and maximum process reliability.

Heat treatment with responsibility and know-how for over 50 years.

Resistance, induction, or gas. We deliver the right solution for every geometry, every size, and every requirement.
